The pier base was dug mostly by backhole. After several rains and several
dryings and digging out it was rebarred and poured.
Earl arrived with three yards of concrete from Hanson Concrete. He got setup over the
pier base hole and proceded to pour. I of course put down the camera and
began spreading concrete.
The pier base is made up of 4000# concrete with fiber added. The size is
4ft wide by 4ft long by 4ft deep in the earth. This base will support a 17 inch square
15ft tall concrete block pier. At the top of the pier will be mounted a
10inch diameter 3ft tall steel pier and then the telescope mount.
